Eskom launches Heat pump rebate programme

As part of its hot water solutions initiative, Eskom Integrated Demand Management (IDM) has added a new rebate programme, aimed at increasing the ability for home-owners and small business owners to access quality hot water systems.

The advantages of a heat pump in comparison to an electrical element geyser is that the electrical element geyser uses 3 units of electrical energy and yields 3 units of heat energy to heat water, while the heat pump utilises 1 unit of electrical energy and yields 3 units of heat energy to heat water. With access to a limitless source of energy (ambient air), heat pumps save, on average, 67 percent of the cost of electrical element geysers.
